Katie Amelse, MSW, LMSW, is a dedicated social worker currently serving as a National Child Welfare Advisor for Raise the Future and the National Center for Diligent Recruitment. As a transracial adoptee, her personal and professional experiences drive her passion to supporting children, youth, and families experiencing foster care and adoption.
Katie began her child welfare career with the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare, focusing on family reunification through case management, parenting education, and crisis stabilization. She then became a Public Adoptions Social Worker, collaborating with 13 counties in Southern Wisconsin to manage cases for youth legally freed for adoption, conduct adoption home studies, and license foster families looking to adopt. She additionally recruited and trained treatment foster homes. After relocating to Nevada, Katie worked as a Youth Connections Advocate, specializing in child-specific recruitment. This led to her supervising a team of recruiters and managing the program.
Katie holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a Human Services Concentration from Edgewood College. She is a licensed social worker in the state of Nevada and is committed to making a meaningful impact in the child welfare system.
